Horsepower determines how much power the motor has, but it's not the number to size around directly — it's a function of the other two. Flow rate (GPM) is how much water the pump delivers, and needs to match or exceed your household's peak simultaneous demand. Total dynamic head is the total resistance the pump has to overcome — well depth, elevation gain to the house, plus friction loss in the piping — and determines how much pressure the pump can maintain at your required flow rate.
Don't just match your old pump's horsepower. If your well's water level has changed, if you've added fixtures, or if your old pump was undersized to begin with, replacing like-for-like just repeats the same problem. Check actual well yield and household demand before buying.

Match your well's static water level and required flow rate against the pump manufacturer's performance curve — a well contractor can also perform a flow test if you don't have recent well records.
